Hey everyone, Great folk club last time out, with more new faces and a great variety in music.
I'm currently working on a small overhaul of the website, but I'll be uploading videos and photos soon. In fact, there are a few videos up on our youtube channel from the last folk club.
Below are videos for Inconsiderate Parking, Laura Marty, Them Lovely Boys and Quince with Davy Cartwright. for best viewing click on the HD button and the full-screen button next to it, on the bottom right.
Enjoy!

About last Friday.

Last Fridays club had a few high points for me. Quince and Davey; in appearance, absolute polar opposites! One wouldn’t look out of place at a gathering of accountants, whilst the other, to be frank, would. But in playing together they became the Chang and Eng of the unplugged. The sweet, soaring sound of their strings hanging over everyone like watery sunlight, beautiful. Rob opened the night with a self penned, engaging and emotional outpouring about losing a loved one, and his philosophy on loss. It was a joy to witness. It’s not easy to perform something as personal as that. And what can you say about Inconsiderate Parking? The confidence of youth allied with no small measure of talent and passion. Any band that has 70% of the audience smiling is either doing something very right, or very, very wrong. If they do not make it to a Cambridge stage within a few years (with a few free wristbands for us lot!) I will eat one of my smaller, tastier hats.
We can all stand together in the shelter of the Cambridge beer tent, wearing our wellies and sun cream, supping warm ale and boastfully boring all within earshot on how we ‘knew them’ when they were starting out. We can wave them off on the first leg of their European tour at Cardiff bus station, and still know we have a bucket full of talent to sate us back at Whitehall Parade on a wet Friday night.
Isn’t Folk great!?
Keep Plucking y'all, Midge Noone
